Metal.Ri Enters the World of BIM Design
BIM design (Building Information Modeling) has in recent years been the undisputed protagonist of Construction 4.0, in the engineering field and in the construction industry.
BIM is a digital representation of the structure to be built, consisting of a 3D model integrated with physical, performance and functional data. Unlike traditional CAD design, the BIM model allows access to the various technical information of each component of the building and to share it with all sector stakeholders.
Thanks to the BIM methodology it is possible to better control the entire project lifecycle, from design and engineering through to construction and commissioning, to achieve better results and work more efficiently.
Metal.Ri makes available to professionals the BIM objects for Revit of the MTR® System elements, in order to meet the current design requirements following the regulations governing “the specific electronic modelling methods and tools for construction and infrastructure”.
BIM Obligation in Public Procurement Projects in Italy
What is the Italian regulatory framework for BIM? And how is the obligation of BIM procedures introduced in the public contracts code in Italy?
The Decree of 2 August 2021, no. 312, issued pursuant to art. 48, paragraph 6 of the Simplification-bis and PNRR Governance Decree (which amends the previous MIT Decree of 1 December 2017, no. 560 on BIM) establishes a specific timetable for the mandatory introduction of the BIM methodology in the public procurement sector.
The obligation of BIM is imposed according to the following terms:
- for new construction works and interventions on existing constructions, with the exception of ordinary maintenance works with a tender base value equal to or greater than 15 million euros as of 1 January 2022;
- for new construction works, and interventions on existing constructions, with the exception of ordinary and extraordinary maintenance works with a tender base value equal to or greater than the threshold referred to in article 35 of the public contracts code (euro 5,350,000 for public works contracts and concessions) as of 1 January 2023;
- for new construction works, and interventions on existing constructions, with the exception of ordinary and extraordinary maintenance works with a tender base value equal to or greater than 1 million euros, as of 1 January 2025.
The Metal.Ri BIM Library
The BIM family of MTR® beams is developed for Autodesk® Revit, to be provided to all engineers, architects and companies interested in our light prefabrication construction system.
The BIM objects of the MTR® System are available on our website (in the download section) and on BIM.archiproducts, the international platform dedicated to the world of BIM. They are also easily downloadable directly into your Revit project, thanks to the free plug-in offered by BIM.archiproducts.
The plug-in, based on Autodesk® Revit technology, allows access to thousands of BIM content items, inserting them immediately into your working file.
All BIM objects created by BIM.archiproducts carry the “Featured” badge, a guarantee of high quality standards and compliance with UNI 11337 and ISO 19650 Standards.
In addition to the object file, the information sheet (schedule) of the MTR® System is available in .rvt format. This sheet contains the identity, dimensional and technical parameters, useful for computing quantities and verifying the physical and performance characteristics of the product. The designer who uses the BIM content can calculate the quantities of products used in their project, manage quantities for the purchase order and transfer this information to the contractor.
Start optimising the planning, construction and management of buildings with the MTR® System right away!
